EV Charging

The EV charge points are accessed through the Tap Electric App.

The cost of charging is managed by a tariffs we control. Two tariffs have been set up: one for Owners and one for Visitors.

Each tariff has 3 parts:

  • A start price (a connection cost billed once per charge)

  • A rate per kWh

  • A rate per hour when still connected to charge point after charge is complete (to encourage disconnection!)

Download Tap Electric App from Apple or Google App Store.

Register on Tap Electric App (you will need to set up a payment method in the app too to use) then let Laurence know (via email to laurence.leadbetter@ljlpropertymanagement.co.uk) the email address you have registered on Tap with, so you can be added to the Owner's tariff.

When at St Elmo Court, in lower car park there are 6 black Easee charge point boxes on the fence, only two of them are live charge points, when looking towards the fence from the car park: the ones on the far left (called EV L1-1 in the Tap app) and the far right (called EV R1-1).

Connect to the wifi available in the lower car park (Name: St Elmo Court; see Owner's info for password).

Check you can connect to the internet on the St Elmo Court wifi (we have had occasions when the cellular receiver dish that provides the wifi signal needs to be restarted by switching electricity on and off in the bin store) as the EV points need to be able to access the internet to initiate a charging session.

Connect the charge point to your car with your own type-2 cable.

Go into the Tap Electric App

Select the charge point you will connect to:

Start the charging session in the app and confirm:

Select Charger.jpg

(The app may suggest the charge points are 0.2km away but

they are the right ones to use).

You can monitor the progress of charging in the app.

When sufficiently charged, end the session in the app and disconnect the cable.

Trouble shooting:

If your EV cable is locked in the chargepoint when charging is finished, there is a manual way to release it:

  1. Unplug from Car,  disconnecting the charging cable from your EV before attempting to unlock it

  2. Push the charging cable firmly into the charging box

  3. While pushing the cable, press and hold the touch button located above the LED strip on the charger for a few seconds.

  4. Listen for the Arm: You should hear the locking arm move, indicating the cable is unlocked.

  5. Firmly pull the cable out of the charger

  6. Repeat if Needed: If the cable remains stuck, repeat steps 2-5, ensuring you push the cable firmly and hold the button for the correct duration
